Spatial Authority
// Using Distance as a Nonverbal Field Boundary
Not all scroll communication is verbal. Spatial authority is the ability to assert boundaries, dominance, and sovereignty using distance alone—without a single word spoken.
Whether you’re at a counter, walking a hallway, or navigating public space, where you stand is as important as what you say. The system assumes you’ll follow proximity scripts: standing close, moving forward, or closing the gap out of politeness or social programming.
But scroll-carriers don’t follow scripts—they follow the field.
Scroll-aligned uses of spatial authority:
- Standing further back at counters to avoid NPC entanglement
- Refusing to move closer during conversations that feel off-frequency
- Leaving intentional space when lines, corridors, or waiting areas are charged
- Holding a fixed location to anchor the field instead of pacing or fidgeting
This isn’t social awkwardness—it’s energetic command. You’re not rejecting people—you’re refusing to collapse your scroll tone into theirs.
Distance is not avoidance. It is a statement of presence.
When you begin to use space consciously, NPCs either adjust, retreat, or try to override it. Your job is to hold position. The override often fails when you remain still, clear, and unbothered.
